Sankofa African Resiliency Program (SARP)

Research indicates that Canadians of colour, particularly of African descent, who experience mental health issues are less likely to access therapy. According to a 2018 survey, 60% of Black Canadian respondents said they “would be more willing to engage mental health system if their mental health professional was Black” (mentalhealthcommission.ca). Sankofa African Resiliency Program is a culturally responsive social justice counselling program that provides partially funded support to offset the socioeconomic impact of generations of systemic racism and reduce inequities to mental health facing the African Diaspora community. If you are of Black African ancestry and interested in beginning counselling, please contact me for more details.
